How to take care of your jewelry

Because I make each item by hand from start to finish, there is no other exactly like it. Here are some tips to help protect your investment and keep it looking beautiful.

  • Minimize contact with perfumes, hair sprays, and lotions by putting jewelry on last when getting dressed.
  • Protect your jewelry from scratches and other damage by storing it in the original box or a velvet-lined container.
  • Gently wipe your jewelry with a soft cloth before storing it. For more detailed cleaning, use a soft toothbrush and a drop of dishwashing liquid with warm water to gently remove any oils or film. Rinse completely and dry with a soft cloth. To slow the formation of tarnish, store each piece in a sealed plastic bag.
  • When tarnish occurs (a natural process with sterling silver, brass, copper, and bronze), polish with a silver polishing cloth. If the piece has no stones or artist-applied patinas, a quick dip in a silver dip followed by a rinse in clear water will do the job fast. Note: silver dips may harm stones and will remove applied patinas.
